Raipur/India: In a statement issued by Shadab Alam Razvi, Founder of Raza Unity Foundation, he said that celebrating Valentine’s Day is against Islamic teachings and is considered impermissible (haram) in light of Shariah. He stated that Islam does not permit free mixing with non-mahram individuals, exchange of gifts in such contexts, or participation in such activities, and therefore Muslims should refrain from taking part in this non-Shariah practice.

He expressed concern that nowadays some Muslims are also celebrating this day on a large scale, which is a matter of serious worry. He appealed to the Imams of mosques and respected scholars to address this issue in Friday sermons and gatherings, and to guide the youth according to Islamic teachings.

Shadab Alam Razvi further said that this trend is not only contrary to Islamic values but is also not in harmony with traditional Indian culture and moral standards.

He urged all Muslims, especially the youth, to safeguard their religious and cultural identity and to avoid any activities that go against their religious principles.
